Note – the details for these matches are not necessarily identical to matches of the same name in the NZSRA SMC5 but general procedures and commands are the same.  Target illustrations are attached.

Classes – Modern Service and Open as NZSRA definitions but with no bipods.


Match 1: 100 yds Double Snap

Position:              Standing

Target:                 SA Fig 12a

Time:                     2 sighters then 5 exposures of 10 seconds each

Rounds:               12 - 2 sighters then 5 x 2 rounds

Procedure:         Fire 2 non-convertible sighters one at a time.  After your second sighter has been indicated the targets will be patched and you are to adopt the standing alert position and the match will commence. Then - adopt the standing alert position (rifle in the shoulder and barrel at 45°).  On command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds, and on command “Action” cock the rifle.  Apply the safety catch and adopt the position in which you intend to complete the exercise (i.e. standing, kneeling or squatting). 

                                Your target will appear for five exposures of 10 seconds each with 5-10 second intervals between exposures.  When your target appears, adopt the standing, kneeling or squatting position and fire two shots then return to the standing alert position.

Match 2: 100 yds Rapid

Position:              Sitting 

Target:                 SA Fig 12a

Time:                     60 seconds.

Rounds:               10 rounds

Procedure:         Adopt the standing alert position.  On the command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds and on the command “Action” cock the rifle.  Apply the safety catch and watch your target.  Your target will appear for one exposure of 60 seconds.  When your target appears adopt the sitting position and engage your target with all ten shots.

Match 3: 200 yds Sustained fire

Position:              Prone (sitting if necessary)

Target:                 SA Fig 12a

Time:                     2 sighters then one exposure of 120 seconds

Rounds:               2 sighters then 10 rounds

Procedure:         Adopt the prone position.  (Depending on grass length this may be changed to sitting).   Fire 2 non-convertible sighters one at a time.  After your second sighter has been indicated the targets will be patched and you are to adopt the standing alert position and the match will commence. On command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds, and on command “Action” cock the rifle.  After your second sighter has been indicated the targets will be patched and then appear for a single exposure of 120 seconds.  During this time engage the target with ten deliberate shots to score.

Match 4: 200 yds Snap

Position:              Sitting

Target:                 SA Fig 11b

Time:                     5 exposures of 10 seconds each.

Rounds:               10 (5 x 2 rounds)

Procedure:         Adopt the sitting position. One the command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds and on the command “Action”, cock the rifle. Your target will appear for five exposures of 10 seconds each with 5-10 second intervals between exposures.  When your target appears, fire two shots per exposure.

Match 5: 200 yds Rapid

Position:              Sitting

Target:                 SA Fig 11b

Time:                     60 seconds

Rounds:               10

Procedure:         Adopt the standing alert position.  On the command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds and on the command “Action” cock the rifle.  Apply the safety catch and watch your target.  Your target will appear for one exposure of 60 seconds.  When your target appears, adopt the sitting position and engage your target with all ten shots.

Match 6: 300 yds Sustained Fire

Position:              Prone

Target:                 SA Fig 11b

Time:                     2 sighters then one exposure of 120 seconds

Rounds:               2 sighters then 10 rounds

Procedure:         Adopt the prone position.  On command “Load”, load a magazine of 12 rounds, and on command “Action” cock the rifle.  When your target appears, fire one non-convertible sighting shot and wait for it to be indicated to you.   When the target appears for the second time with your first shot indicated, fire your second sighting shot and apply your safety catch.  After your second sighter has been indicated the targets will be patched and then appear for a single exposure of 120 seconds.  During this time engage the target with ten deliberate shots to score.

Match 7:              300 yds Rapid

Position:              Prone

Target:                 SA Fig 11b

Time:                     60 seconds

Rounds:               10

Procedure:         Adopt the standing alert position.  On the command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds and on the command “Action” cock the rifle.  Apply the safety catch and watch your target.  Your target will appear for one exposure of 60 seconds.  When your target appears, adopt the prone position and engage your target with all ten shots.

Match 8:              300 yds Snap

Position:              Prone

Target:                 SA Fig 12a

Time:                     2 sighters then 10 exposures of 3 seconds each

Rounds:               12 - 2 sighters then 10 x 1 round   

Procedure:         Adopt the prone position.  On command “Load”, load a magazine of 12 rounds, and on command “Action” cock the rifle.  When your target appears, fire one non-convertible sighting shot.   When the target appears for the second time, fire your second sighting shot and apply your safety catch.  After your second sighter has been indicated the targets will be patched and the match will commence.

Your target will appear for ten exposures of 3 seconds each with 5-10 second intervals between exposures.  When your target appears, fire one shot per exposure.

Match 9: 300 yds Mixed Grill

Position:              Prone

Target:                 SA Fig 11b & SA Fig 12a

Time:                     Fig 12: 20 seconds; Fig 11: 25 seconds

Rounds:               10

Procedure:         Adopt the prone position.  On command “Load”, load a magazine of 10 rounds, and on command “Action” cock the rifle.  The Fig 12a target will appear for 20 seconds and then immediately be changed for the Fig 11 target which will remain exposed for 25 seconds.  You may fire as many shots as you can or wish to at either target.  

Scoring:                Fig 12 - All V bulls will count as V-bulls.  All other hits will count as 5s.   Fig 11 will be scored as normal.  Scores for the two targets are added for total.

Team match

Teams of 4: 

Fig 14 for Prone Sentry 10 secs, then 3 members go prone on Fig 12a for 60 secs.  5 points Fig 14, 12a as normal.

Notes

1) Keep to tracks only to minimise ground damage.   2) No smoking or other fire risk.

3) Prone shooting at 200 will depend on grass length. 4) Slings may be used at all distances. 5) No bipods to be used.

7) Carbineers medals for 1st, 2nd 3rd both classes.  1st Team bottle of wine each.

8) Entry fees NZSRA Members $30.00, Non NZSRA $ 40.00
